Pigmentation, uneven skin tone, blemishes, acne scars, we’re all witnesses to these evils, which hinder us from getting an even skin tone.
A few factors leading to it is: exposure to the sun, unhealthy lifestyle, hormonal changes, pollution, etc. Worrying about it wouldn’t make it magically disappear, honey. Fret not, for it can be significantly improved by following these easy steps.
Drink lots of water. (It’s ‘the magic liquid.’ You know it!) Water cleanses our body from within by detoxifying it. Being well hydrated at all times will ensure that your skin looks fresh and plump. Try infused water if you’re bored of its tastelessness like me. Slice some cucumber and lime and put it in a jar of icy water. Keep sipping throughout the day. In addition to this you should eat well, get that 8 hours of beauty sleep, exercise regularly and avoid stress to increase the overall condition and appearance of your skin. So live stress free and stay beautiful.
Never step out of the Sun without wearing sunscreen. The Sun is harsh and very damaging. UV rays are the main cause of pigmentation and dark spots, even skin cancer (you read that right.) Always use a minimum SPF of 20 or above on a daily basis for protection. Make sure that it shields you from both UVA and UVB rays. It doesn’t matter if it’s cloudy/rainy/snowy. Use it daily like a ritual if your wish is an even skin tone.
Use a chemical free, mild cleanser, which doesn’t dry out your face, in the morning and before bed. Aftercleaning up you should be ready to scrub away dead skin cells and excess oil. Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove buildup of dead skin. Exfoliating breaks up the pigmented cells while helping them to fade. Make sure to use a gentle scrub so that it doesn’t damage your skin. It promotes blood circulation which helps you to achieve that healthy, glowy skin and even skin tone which you always dreamt of.

If you don’t have time then simply use a sheet mask and you are good to go for an entire week. Don’t forget to use a moisturizer afterwards to lock in all the goodness. The magic serums do your skin is fascinating.
For more effective and quick results you can always try homemade face masks; ingredients right in your kitchen. Do it 3 4 times a week until you see visible results. The key is being consistent and patient. Below are my personal favorites:
- Lemon juice and honey (mix in 1:1 ratio, apply to your face and keep for 15 mins then wash it off)
- Raw potato slices (rub into the affected areas, and wash off after 10 minutes with lukewarm water)
- Yogurt and gram flour mask.
- Fresh aloe vera gel (Extract the fresh gel from the leaf and apply to your face and neck, keep for 20 minutes then wash your face. Use it everyday for amazing results.
